OMG!! I've been away for a year. Lets fix that and get back in the game!!

I am so sorry that I have been away for so long. But I am back now. I'll be recording a new podcast this week. I'm also video taping some hands on demo segments.

The drought is about over... Again, Thank you for being more than patient with me!!

I must apologize deeply for the lack of activity here. I have not dropped off the edge of Earth!! Just been very busy lately with not much time to get into the shop.

I do want to get out and start a series on bowls. We have spent time so far on spindle turning, including small hollow vessels. Its time now to look at face work, or cross-grain turning. I'll post some diagrams in the notes section and get a some pod casts up introducing the concepts, tools, and methods of face turning, then we'll get to work and turn a simple bowl out of Box Elder.

Eccentric Stemmed Goblet Finished

I am so sorry that I was gone for over a month. I am back and have posted the first of a two part series on turning a goblet with an eccentric, or off-axis, stem. The completed piece is in the photo gallery. I will post the second part in a few days.

I am also working on some stone inlay embellishement. Look for that soon as well.

I am still here!!. Just wanted to post a quick note letting you know that I have not dropped off the face of the Earth. Its been a busy week as I get back at it in my day job following the holidays.

I'll be back in the shop doing more turning as well as doing some tool reviews and demos very soon....

Busy Christmas Season

I haven't forgotten about you. It's been a busy Christmas season so far. I still am working on another pod cast update.

Do you all have your Christmas shopping lists finished? If not, then remember that a small turning makes a special gift!! Please remember our troops as well. How about turning a few pens and sending them to the Freedom Pen organization? For those of you who don't know about it, Freedom pens is a non-profit volunteer movement to turn pens and send them to troops overseas. many turning clubs and wood working stores across the nation have held turn-a-thons to create thousands of pens over the past years. The troops really love getting these. Check with your local wood working store or wood turning club to see when their next turn-a-thon event is.

Grain Direction and Cutting with the grain

Look at at the diagrams I just added to the show notes page to help understand how graini direction impacts the direction of your cuts. Remember to cut with the grain for smoothest and best results.
